About us

Aqua Cleanup International is a non-profit organization established pursuant to section 501(c)(3) in the United States of America. Aqua Cleanup was created to bring balance back to our ecosystem by reducing and eventually eliminating plastic waste discarded through river systems into our oceans, while creating sustainability, jobs opportunities, and social welfare for local communities across the world.

The core members of project team come from diverse professional backgrounds, averaging over 25 years of experience in business entrepreneurship, vessel design and ocean engineering. Having lived across continents and traveled to Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Tuvalu plus various other island nations in the Pacific, the team has been on ships and seen first-hand the impact of discarded plastic waste on the ocean environment.

Bringing together our expertise, with knowledge on the rivers and oceans, Aqua Cleanup International adopts a bespoke model to design and implement a customized solution that incorporates the geographic features and primary uses of the river and accounts for “hotspots’ where the plastic waste accumulate and effects of tropical monsoons and seasonal flooding, thus maximizing the efficiency of cleaning plastic waste, while minimize the disruption to wildlife, for the specific river.
